I then painted the weld able surfaces with weld through primer and some blue paint in the pockets.

While I had the skin off I noticed that the cage nut for the tailgate hinge was missing so we made one.

My next step was to align and weld the angles to the bed sides, but when I cleaned off the paint to weld you guessed it more Bondo and plenty of it. After I got the Bondo off I found cracked, rusted out and brazed metal. So I decided to replace the entire bed skin. I had a piece of steel laying around that would work, so I cut it to fit and had a local sheet metal shop bend a angle along the bottom edge. During this process I found a metal cutting blade for a circular saw so I thought what the heck. I bought one and I do not regret it. Nice strait cuts and no warping where was this a few years ago?

First I needed to get the cross sills level. I removed the carriage bolts only to find that they were in round holes. Soooo I fabricated some square holes to replace them.
