Ok I finally got it on my engine stand. Now to get into the guts of this job. As you can see the S10 (top) and the Camaro have two different shifter locations. The top covers are the same except for the shifter shaft, the S10 is shorter (top).

I placed the Camaro trans on the bell and found out things I still had some interference with bolts and that the Camaro trans mount holes where less that ˝” in diameter. I filed down the ear of the transmission and bored out the mount holes to ˝”.

I determined that the two upper holes on the truck bell were too close to the holes in the Camaro T5. I cut a couple pieces of 1 ˝” round stock. I cut two holes upward and out ward with a hole saw. I then welded the round stock in the holes and drilled and taped them. I clamped the adapter to the bell and marked and drilled the holes to mount the adapter to the bell.

After cutting down the aluminum to the size of the pattern I started to lay out the holes. I started by using a 4 ˝ hole saw. I then drilled and counter sunk 4 holes to mount the plate to my rotary table on the good old 3 in 1 machine. I machined the center hole to 4 5/8” for the transmission. I then started with the 5 1/8” ring that will go into the truck bell.

I needed to make an adapter to mount the Camaro main box to the truck bell. I first started with a piece of cardboard to determine the different bolt patterns and what size of aluminum I would need. I bought a piece of 1” aluminum. If you recall you need to space a T5 back about 5/8” because of the longer input shaft.
