I got a tailgate from Mar-K for a 39 as they had Chevrolet in scrip. I also got the stainless steel Tailgate Link Assembly.

08-17-2014 02:57 PM Bed floor
A few years ago (about 20) I had a wild cherry tree cut down in my back yard. I had it milled into boards and they been lying around every since. I planed some down and machined them into bed floor boards so that I could use the stainless hidden fastener strips. I test fitted them before I finished them. After finished the boards with a brush I found a lot of brush marks in the finish. After sanding them down with 120, 220,and 320 I found that I still have some divots from the planer so I applied another brush coat to fill in the divots. The problem is that I have to wait several days before I can sand. After sanding with 220 and 320 I applied a coat with a HVLP sprayer and thinned it with 10% mineral sprits.

I needed to trim the wiggle wires to match the originals in the seat bottoms. The end result was a seat that was a little lower than the old seats.

08-17-2014 02:52 PM Almost new seats cont.
I got a set of seat covers from Corvette America and used their web site video to install them. I decided to reuse the existing foam but added some foam in a couple places. I didn’t want to use the bar trim that goes near the top of the seat back. I added some foam to fill the void. I also have a bad back so I added some foam to the lower back to give me some lumbar support. After running back and forth from the garage to the house to view the video I finally got the first seat done.

08-17-2014 02:49 PM Almost new seats
I picked up a set of C3 Corvette seats off of eBay as they have a lower profile than the ones that I had in the truck. When I sat up straight it those seats my eyes were level with the top of the windshield. I stripped them down and found that they had some rust issues. I repaired, sand blasted and painted them. A few of the zigzag springs were rusted off so I got some new ones. That is when I found out that they needed to be cut down to fit. After I cut the springs I noticed that the ends would not fit in the frame. I clamped a vise grip in a vise to hold the spring and bent it to match the originals. They fit like they were made for it.
