We wrote an article exposing a kit-car company called Streetbeasts.

Now, they've tried to silence us with a frivolous lawsuit.

Guess what happens when unethical companies try to bully hotrodders out of their free speech?
Get the details, and see how you can lend a hand.

This journal documents the building of a previous project. If you would like to see what I'm working on now (Hemi powered '53 Chevy pickup) just check my home page.

04-22-2004 01:32 PM The End
After completing the car I drove it for over 4 years with trips to the Nats in Louisville each year. Last year (2003) the car was sold. Here you see me handing over the keys to the new owner (he's the tall one) just before he drove it home.

Sometimes you just have to let one project go in order to finance another. Selling a labor of love is never easy and I have to admit I did have a tear in my eye as the car left, after all it did take 6 years to build. However, (he said smiling) I now have the funds to finish my '53 pickup...... and the saga continues.

04-22-2004 01:23 PM Finishing things up
Once the car was painted, and what a learning experience that was, I decided to add some eye catching flames. The flames were laid out using 3M fine line tape and were sprayed using DuPont Chromalusion color shifting paint. This paint costs in excess of $240 a pint so unless you have very deep pockets use it sparingly. I used one pint to do these flames. After the flames were done the entire front end was sprayed with a final coat of clear and the color sanding began. What you see is the result of all that work.

The final picture kind of says it all.

04-22-2004 01:16 PM Interior part II
A word of caution here. When you have interior work done use a quality shop. Although my guy did a very nice job the quality of the materials he used was not the best. This interior would not hold up well to daily use. It's fine for the weekend driver but thats about it.

Since I had never done any interior work I took the car to a shop in Lancaster, Oh for this work. The Toyota seats were reupholstered in gray tweed then custom door panels, quarter panels, kick panels and a headliner were made to match. Carpet was installed to finish everything up.
