|engine in the truck now is a stock 305 TBI with 318k miles on it. I drive it everyday and have been for the last 10yrs and 140k miles.
parts I have to start with:
complete 010 350 engine. standard bore. never been decked. smog heads with 1.72 INT valves.
stock 882 heads, 1.94/1.5 valves. 171 int./65 exht. runners have not been hogged out (ported to death), only milled to 75cc.
scorpion 1.5 full roller rockers with locks
get the engine apart. take the block, crank, rods, 882's to machine shop.
if block checks out good: align hone/bore, bore cylinders .030 over & honed, take .005 off the deck. cam bearings installed
if crank is reusable: have .010 taken off main & rods.
if 882's are reusable: have them milled down to 74cc. clean up the ports & chambers, polish the chambers
if stock 5.7 rods are good: have pistons installed. .030 over, 6cc 4vr flat tops, with 1.56 ch. should give me 9.2:1 CR w/ .020 head gasket compressed thickness, and.040 quench area.
parts I will be installing:
cam: comps k-kit, high energy/marine 268h. 218/218 @.050, .454/.454 lift w/ 1.5 rockers, 110 lsa, installed @ 106 ICL. should be able to run 87 octane gas just fine.
exhaust: true duals. hooker headers with 31&quot; long tubes &amp; 1 5/8" primaries. 2 1/2" tubing into thrush round tube glass packs, exit 6" behind the bumper.
carb: holley 8007 390cfm 4 brl.
intake manifold: edelbrock performer RPM non air gap.
ignition: stock HEI w/ vacuum advance
belt: serp set up and all accessories. on truck now.
transmission : 700r4 w/2000 stall, lock up converter, large rv type cooler. in the truck now.
gear: 3.90:1. has a 3.42:1 now.
rearend: gm 8.5", 10 bolt, posi limited slip. in truck now.
tires: 275/60/15 (28" bf goodrich gt radials. has 235/75/15 (29" goodyear wranglers on now.
not too bad for a good DD, work truck, that'll never see 5000rpm, pull good down low, run on 87 octane, have a nice cruise speed 45-75 mph 1500-2500 rpm, 275hp around 4700rpm , and 325 lbs of trq around 3200rpm, sound good at idle and cruisin.
