08-07-2006 08:21 PM Dakota Roadster
This project will be a loose interpretation of a 1920s to 1930s roadster. This is a long term project, I plan to have this done by Spring '07. Using the following starting pieces, I plan to move the dakota cab rearward by 2-3 feet. The bed will be shortened to 4-5 feet. The dakota roof and windshield will be removed. The cowl and dash area will be filled in with new metal. A flat 2 piece windshield will be constructed. The doors will be cut down and the windows removed. A long hood and radiator shell will be fashioned from aluminum. A new front frame will be constructed to use a IFS suspension from a 2000 silverado 4wd (minus axles and diff). The wheelbase will be 130".

Starting pieces...
1992 Dodge Dakota, 2wd, Long bed.
Cadillac Escalade 17" rims with 31" tires.
GM L67 V6 Series II motor, supercharged.

Additional major pieces to acquire...
1999-up Silverado 4wd front suspension clip minus diff and drive axles.
1999-up 2-4wd rear axle with disc brakes and low ratio around 3.00
NV3550 or similar 5 speed transmission
Suitable bellhousing to mate the FWD motor to the 5 speed
