02-01-2012 08:17 AM the LH sides' turn for more rust removal
its the LH sides' turn,

I cut off the rusty stock LH rocker

then made some pieces to finish up the front and rear door jams on that side

after I put those on, I got the LH rocker cut to fit and tacked on

then I got the rusty lower LH rear quarter panel cut off
(I had a access/rust check, hole cut in it already)

and the new lower LH rear quarter repair panel trimmed kinda close

01-25-2012 03:35 PM RH Rear quarter panel is roughed in
I ended up splitting the back side at the fender bead, because of the cuts/fitting already made at door jam

it worked out OK because the bead/roll bodyline at the fender was bigger/rounder then the repair panel, so I was able to fix that at the same time

I cheated and made a doubler for the back side (kinda like putting a flange on it)

now I just have to finish tweaking and welding both the quarter and rocker

then we move to the other side and do it all again

when the other side is done, I can start on the new body mounts that will tie in at the rear door jam and this piece intersect

01-23-2012 08:03 PM rocker is roughed in, so now I'll start on the quarter
I finished cutting off the bottom of my RH rear quarter

I have the rocker roughed in, so now I have a reference point for the quarters' repair panel

I cut a little at a time, on both the rusty stuff that is coming off, and fitting the new piece

while the area was open, I cleaned it up and added a doubler to the back side of the door jam,
(because I am going to move the body mount to that spot)

I think I will need to make the repair panel wider to fit correctly
(I cant get both body lines to match up)

01-17-2012 03:06 PM started rusty rocker and rear quarter repair
I was a little intimidated by this part, and had been avoiding it

yesterday I cut some of it open to see how bad it was, and.......its not as bad as I thought it would be!

so I looked at it for awhile, trying to figure out how to get it put back together, once I cut it apart?

I decided to start on the rockers today, and here's what I did

1) took some pics and printed them
2) took lots of measurements and wrote them down on the pics
3) start cutting and grinding a little bit at a time, until its all gone
4) start trimming the new piece a little at a time, until it fits

I got a good start on it, and I can see its going to work

still need to make a little piece that will fill in at the bottom of the front door pillar
