junk yard steering shaft parts..

Hi, I have a CCP power steering kit that I have installed in my 49 3100.The junkyard steering shaft is what I am trying to do. and the s-10 steering box end is too small (barely) for the steering box that came with my kit. I love the idea of making this from the boneyard. Does anyone know which vehicle I need to get the lower part from?
Brad...
thanks in advance.

I'm a little confused ... you have used the words "steering box" in your post for assumably two different parts.???

I would assume that you mean that the input spline on the S10 steering gear is slightly smaller in diameter than the coupling that you have at the end of your column. Is that correct?
Any pictures?

Is it a manual or a power steering gear?
Do you have a part number for the "kit" that you bought from CPP?

I am pretty sure that the (fairly popular) Vega manual steering gear uses a smaller diameter input spline than the "standard" GM size.

gearbox spline size...

Thanks 66 gmc,
The power steering box that came with the kit is a conversion kit made for this truck. i got this kit from ebay with not much info included. Though it is CCP kit # 4754psk-s and their catalog says that the replacement gearbox is a GM 800 series. So i need to know what vehicles use the 800 series gearbox. I pulled one from a 90's suburban and it was too small, the astro van was too small, as was the s-10.
Thanks and sorry for not being so clear, but it was late
thanks, Brad......
