Just another landing on St. Marteen

If you are running out of thrills in your life, take your next vacation to St. Marteen island and sit on the beach next to the airport. This is a picture of an actual landing. Guaranteed to give you a rush for the first couple of times anyway!

Wow! That is an actual landing? I think I'd take a boat. Dan

If that is not a doctored photo, the the Feds would be glad to get that ****pit crew grounded from ever flying into the USA. But what would you expect from Air France?

That's a real photo. I took it from a little slide show someone sent me with about a dozen shots from several directions. The air strip is fit on a little peninsula that is barely long enough to fit beach to beach. This was just the most dramatic shot in the bunch.

I think it's a little fishy because the landing gear should have been dropped a couple miles back. They're not that fast when activated and I don't think there would have been enough time for them to completely drop before the plane touched down. Let alone have enough time for the pilot to confirm thier position before landing.

I've been to St. Martin, It's a wonderful place to visit. At least on the Dutch half of the island. The French were rude to us on their side of the island. Getting back to the pictures. Flying in is not half the adventure that departing the island is. When we left, the pilot told us that we would be heading straight at the mountain, but not to worry, that it would be a rather aggressive liftoff and climb. But that he had done it many times and had not hit it yet. He then joked that he had never tried with this many people on board, but he thought he "probably" could make it. It was a rush, but if you ever get the chance to stay on the island, go for it. We LOVED it. Very nice people, very nice weather, and also Nude Beaches.

Pictures of planes coming into the old Hong Kong airport were pretty awesome too. Negotiating mountains and flying virtually through the city. These pics look genuine to me, the first one seemed iffy. Normally there would be a no go zone for the public under the flight path.Must be hell to get a tan being blow
dried every five minutes.
I seem to remember the island of Ibiza had a strip problem of
too short, and the planes would "hop" to the next island where there was a longer runway. There they could get more speed to climb. There were a few that fell off the end of the Ibiza strip into the sea.
P.S. I´ve just been advised by a "´plane nut" friend of mine that this is not a hoax, but a well known landing phenomenon.

Ever fly into Washington National ( Ronald Reagan)? Its just about as great when landing from the south except only with dirty Potomac River water instead of beautiful blue sea!

I have seen these pictures a lot. I majored in Aviation Management at Louisiana Tech University. These pics always showed up, and we have a few alums that have actually made that landing. They said it was quite exiciting, to say the least. If you look at the picture of the ****pit, you will see a set of lines at the foot of the runway (!!!!! !!!!!), that is what the pilots are aiming for as their landing point, that way they can get as much ground roll as possible. As for the people laying in the sand below the planes, better them than I.
