just finished my favorite painting ever

Hey guys, just wanted to share my latest accomplishment...this is the first painting I've done in about 10 years, and I'm pretty pleased with it if I dare say so myself. It's of my '55 Caddy, acrylics on canvas, and hanging happily over my fireplace now.

Glad you felt like painting, looks great, I'm sure it's a real conversational peice when friends are over.

Nice work! Although I rarely use acrylics, I can really appreciate brushwork on canvas. I love doing oil on canvas and hardboard. My favorite subject matter is cars. Could you post some more of your work for us to admire? Would love to see it!

I'll be glad to, as I finish more. I haven't picked up a brush in almost 10 years...so this is the 1st piece I've done. The only other one I've finished recently isn't car related & I don't have a great picture of it online (not like the cameraphone shot of my Caddy piece is any better really) but I'll show it off anyway I suppose. Last weekend this girl came over & we decided to paint our own interpretation of "a guitar" just to see how different they could be. Can you guess which is mine?

Yup, the one with the pick guard is me. She & I thought it was funny how obvious my personality came out in my painting & likewise for her. Just a trip how the 2 came to be. Identical canvas, dippin' from the same paints with the same brushes, painting the same thing at the same time, and what came out of my head was black & fiery & hot-rodded while what came out of her head was soft & beautiful & vibrant.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I'll hopefully be painting a ton more as time goes, I'll post the car related ones here to show off, and any of the others y'all wanna see for that matter. I've taken 2 more photos of my Caddy that I really want to start with, so hopefully in the coming weeks I'll have those to post. And people keep asking me to do commissions, so if I end up taking any of them up on their offers I'll show those off too!

I'm tryin' to remember our photoshop conversation...and failing. I'm in photoshop pretty much all day every day for work, and I used it to manipulate my source pic I took for this painting... How did I make out in what way?

Just finished another painting...this one's not "technically" car related, but I wanted to see how I could fare with pinup girls, so its sort of a hot rodder thing anyway. Here it is:
