Just general HEI questions and discussion:

A) Please forgive as i don't know jack about distributors. It's going to be very un-organized and seemingly the thoughts will come out of nowhere or left field at first.....

B) You may want to get popcorn and your favorite drink of choice; i think it's going to be that type of thread and i want it to be that kind of thread.

1) Who makes the gmpp distributors and where is it made and where are ALL of the individual components are parts made?

a) regarding modules: Does gm still make/offer modules? If so where are they made and who, specifically, makes them? How is the present quality?

ai) Are there any other companies that offer modules EQUALLING OR EXCEEDING the quality dependability of gm modules at their highest?--- If, in fact, the quality of gm modules has declined.

aii) Are there any other companies that offer complete distributors and/or other parts that equal or exceed original gm quality?

Don't know who makes GMPP Distributors but there are many aftermarket names you can trust. I have always had good luck with MSD. My buddy runs Mallory while another runs Accel, all with no issues. Parts for these are mostly available at local parts stores as well. Most GM modules come from Puerto Rico, Mexico or Taiwan. Most aftermarket companies make modules different variations, from low ball price to oe or better. The usual difference in these is that on the cheaper ones they use lower quality plastics and reduce or even eliminate heat sinks. I worked for an aftermarket Engine Management Co. for 25 yrs and know this for a fact. We made a lot of different modules for oe (Ford, GM, Chrysler). Buying from a Dealership doesn't mean that you will always get an OE part. Just an equivalent. Aftermarket brands such as Standard, Echlin will usually be good. Hope this helps.
