thanks crazy...it just seems to happen a lot. I hate asking the goofy questions in the forums when I know if I look them up and find one or two..and I get that error....so i have to ask the goofy seemingly easy questions.

I think you're right though Lar...every once in a while I get one that works.

Here's exactly what's happening guys:

The Knowledge Base contains a list of archived discussions from the board. When we moved to our new board, this list of discussions became obsolete. Rather than fix every link to old board discussions, I've just re-pointed every single old board link to the "error" page, which explains the move to the new board. In short, I duct taped it. So, when you click on one of these "old" discussions, you just get that standard error page.

I've been going through every post on the board, and re-establishing these archived discussions, one by one. The interior category is complete. So is the body-exterior category. The redone categories have considerably more saved discussions than the old ones.

Right now, I'm working on the suspension-brakes-steering category. I've just finished reading 1,500+ discussions from that category. I've also been graphing the discussions, so that we can see the most common ones, and I've been "clustering" knowledge around our most common questions. To find out more about this, have a look at this month's issue of our site newsletter, The Hotrodder.

You can also check out our first Knowledge Cluster, which centers around the most commonly asked Brakes question: disc brake conversions/swaps/installs. 39% of all brake questions were on this topic! So I figure if we compile all of the knowledge on this topic in one place, we can reduce repetitive questions on the board. Hopefully, this will help us use our collective resources more efficiently, and our more knowledgeable members can focus their efforts on teaching, rather than just repeating the same things over and over. Similar Knowledge Clusters on our most common Suspension questions ("Lowering Your Car", "Mustang II Suspension", and "Frame Swaps") are already in progress.

When using the Knowledge Base, you'll find it's usually more effective to browse by category than to enter search terms.

The next Big Site Project is going to be a massive renovation of the Knowledge Base. It got very big, very quickly, and it needs a larger structure.
