I guess the first obvious question is, "how do I upload a custom avatar?"... I'll take a look through the FAQs when I'm done working. It's easier to sit here and shoot off a quick forum reply than it is to sit here and browse through a bunch of questions when I'm supposed to be drawing signs!

Yup. I'm one of those SBC guys, too..........but I've done a few Mopars in my day. I built up a nice rust-free 62 Dodge Custom 880 2 door hardtop, with a 440 and A/C and just a great cruiser. Some guy from Belgium saw it at the Pomona Swap Meet and had to own it........he does.
Bought a 73 Dart for $500 bucks, another rust free car. Rebuilt the 318, added cop wheels (painted white) with small caps, fixed the A/C, had the interior redone and used it for a daily driver for 150,000 miles. Some guy from Irvine California wanted to put a 360 in it and go racing......I gave him that opportunity. What are your plans for your MOPAR? Keep us posted. They make nice cars, even if I don't own any anymore. |

Thanks to everyone for all the warm welcomes. I appreciate it.
First of all, I’m going to keep the Slant Six in there. I’m planning on upgrading it with some performance parts from Cliffords Performance. I’m also going to use the tips and tricks I can pick up at slantsix.org and do whatever I can to up the performance. I think (judging by some of the articles I’ve read) that I can get enough performance out of the “leaning tower of power” to keep me happy… we shall see. I’ll probably be the only one with a 69 B-Body that has a Slant Six in it for hundreds of miles! I want to paint it green when I’m finished, but I’m not sure if it will be the same Light Green (F3) that it is now, or if I’ll go with a darker green. The interior is going to be back to stock. I’ll re-cover the bench seats, re-do the dashboard and keep the column shifter. Since it will be my daily driver, I’m going to figure out how to get my MP3 player to work in the cabin, but I have a while before I have to worry about that! I bought a 69 Charger flip-top gas cap from someone on eBay. It has the cap, ring and filler neck (plus it was cut out of the donor car so there is a good amount of metal around it too!). I am going to buy a new fuel tank for a 69 Charger and customize my Coronet by adding the gas cap. I’ve always loved the look of that gas cap on the rear fender of those old Chargers and this will be my way of adding a custom touch to my ride! Those are my plans so far. Subject to change depending on my imagination. This is my hobby now and I am really enjoying it. It’s a great way to spend free-time when I get it! I’ll post progress pictures as I take them. I'v seen a few pretty Hot slant 6's.. up to 600 HP I have seen.. you put a turbo on it, the slant 6's respond very well. if the slant 6 is original to your Cornet, it's likely a very rare car.

It is originally a 225 Slant 6 w/ a 904 trans and a 7 1/4 rear end. They are all there. I think i am the 3rd owner or so judging by the title and the info I received from the guy I bought it from.
I still have to reasearch all of this, of course, but I'm a little too busy welding together body parts to take the time to find out! LOL. Anyway, I don't know how rare it is, but I will find out eventually. There are probably some numbers on how many were built with an original Slant Six somewhere... Thanks. |
