When he sees it he will find that already 767 people have seen it here. In 3 days ...Yesterday I was looking at it and there were 2 members and 19 guests looking at it. Pretty popular thread I'd say.

Here is a link to his ebay store feedback page. http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...1&iid=-1&de=off
A couple of interesting things there.

[Quote :pro 70/Z28 ]December 29, 3004 ........................ Day 92.
Well..... Finally.............. exactly 50 days overdue ...... the front end is in the shop. I graded it.

Str8 - I have to give him a "B" The gel coat has a sheen to it and sitting out in the sun the reflections were very str8. I give it a "B" because it has a ding on the top driver side fender. Not a damage ding, more like a defective mold ding.

Fit - Grade N/A yet. I test fit the headlight rings and they fit good. I need to do some modifying on the cowl as they have a stiffener glassed in right where the firewall pinch weld is. The factory firewall will be modified or gone by the time I'm done anyway so that's not a problem.

Finish - Ol' "Rob'' gets a "D" on that one. There are several flaws in the gelcoat. On the bottom front fender the edge is very thin in a small spot. A little glass on the back side will fix it.

Bottom line, Yes I will keep the front end, I'll fix what needs fixing, and no............. I won't recommend "Showcars" for fiberglass parts.]

I sent this company money in Jan 2001 for a fiberglass Camaro hatch and after more than a year wait, they send me something that doesn't even come close to fitting the car. I sent the item back and now after all this time Rob Johnston (owner of showcars bodyparts unlimited) refuses to send me my money back. Not only do they have my money ($666), but also the item!! Stay as far away from this company as possible, unless you want to get ripped off!!! Their customer service is also horrible! Theives!

Just so everyone is warned about this company. Showcars Unlimited

Rob owes me $769 for worthless parts and $210 for freight and that is if I don't have to spend another $210+ to send the parts back to him. I have also made over $100 in phone calls to Canada to get him to send me these parts. I will wave the phone call charges. If he sends me $979 I will cut the parts in pieces and take a picture of them in a dumpster or he can send me another $210 to send the parts back to him. I need to see a cashiers check in the mail first and it must clear my account. At that time I will post a shipping receipt showing I sent the parts back to him or a pic of the parts distroyed.

Wow, I can't believe that I have actually been looking at some of the parts on his web page and was actually thinking about calling him!
NOT NOW!
That has to be the worst fiberglass work I have ever seen.

fiberglass custom parts....

hi bob....sorry you had to hang up .....if you'd rather straighten this out here, so be it.......as our site says custom modified parts like your 5 inch cowl hood are non refundable so we'll have to fix-finish the hood (as i requested you send it back by yellow freight collect (18006106500) ....we'll prepay it back.....bumper looks ok to me...minor finishing on original markings is easy finish...wheelarches we made for you we can send pics of if you still need....
........re pics - thin spots (clear spots) are where the gelcoat (colorcoat) was sanded through ....fiberglass is clear, not necessarily too thin....our parts are thicker than most to allow finish fit,wax strip ,block sanding, filler-surfacer priming complete part, finish sanding.....
.....the rough finish under the scoop was from glassing it twice to straighten out a dip found after installation, rather than using bodyfiller on the outside of the hood...should have been finish ground underneath and painted before shipped....two top blemishes should have been filled and finished...we can do that if you can't with rebate....
.....re the original holes / cutout designs in the bumper not being finished smooth....most people prefer original mounting bolt, holes remain marked for drilling out ease....easly filled if you prefer smooth....

.......for general information......we're farther behind than anyone would like right now due to (in the last 6 months)....Katrina messing up one supplier, one passing away ,one supplier fire damage, one supplier moving and two closing altogether...besides us moving febuary and march...resulting in losing some staff, needing to replace, train some new people.....appologies to all affected, working overtime to remedy.....all glass shops are swamped this year, working on extra staffing....subcontract,more suppliers
we're reviewing our custom work policy now till more caught up....ie. not installing scoops....new product additions....
(100.00 finishing rebate could save time and wasted shipcosts)

....re other posted complaints.....2001....2004....please let me know of any others....all solved as far as i know.....ebay feedback is 98.4 positive....since we only list in stock inventory.....

.....re fiberglass parts complaints in general.....i've been buying, installing, making, selling, comparing fiberglass parts for 30 plus years.....from some great suppliers, some you had to take what was available, some strictly race parts, some factory replacement street style....some show ready, some needing finish trim/flashing lines finished, very thin to very thick, some who shipped in 10 days, some we had to wait several months on,some we had to give up on.........don't leave till needed soon to order....never sell your old parts, take your car to body shop till parts in hand.....

few tips....explain exactly what's needed before buying...do you want exact original look or pieces molded together looking totally smooth....lightest weight or heavier, thick enough for straight lasting finish?.....some parts we have several sources, quality, design choices,.....some only one supplier........

finishing is required on anything fiberglass.....shiny finish doesn't mean its straight or fits, needs to be sandad to paint anyway.......use wax stripper on all glass parts before bodyworking to remove any moldrelease, wax from manufacturing............want the underside totally finished smooth?most aren't......always use pins or dzus clips on glass hoods fronts.....,want 90degree edges on hoods for keep lined up or no edge to sit on flange of racestyle frontends?........glass is more flexible than steel...use extra supports, proprods instead of springs or lighter springs.....check if fenders, frontends include original mounting brackets, rear support brackets, headlight mounting brackets as original?......

i've seen complaints against even the best suppliers...2-5% problem orders is average...98% other finished orders we don't hear back from.....know what you're ordering, pay more for best/extra finishing if necessary...better than asking a bodyshop to finish, modify later usually that they'd rather not do.......we deal with over 100 glass shops and make around 3000 parts here in our small shop to offer most options available.....some fresh new molds, some well worn ones we can't justify or have time to update/replace but keep available for those who need regardless....whatever you're building we might make or can special order....price and quality are a variable to be addressed on each item, time is money we try to cater to customer needs for unavailable/ hard to find and custom built parts....that most other shops won't bother with......appreciate customer understanding of the nature of this custom car / custom parts supply business and with clarity of customer needs, expectations hope to keep all concerned happy motoring.....

we're always swamped with too many emails, phonecalls but for any questions, concerns please email direct....SUBJECT..."hotrodders.com-inquiry", and we'll get looked after asap....showcars@idirect.com

bob...please get hood back asap so we can get finished and back on your car......i'll check out how yellow overcharged you on the shipping, since we got a lower quote and quote number before sent.....unless its a residential delivery surcharge....rates are quoted to business address of for closest dock pickup to save bucks...
please post this response on other boards you mentioned...
looking forward to speedy, satisfactory as possible resolution...
rob

Showcars are built.....enjoy....Godbless.

The power of the internet is being illustrated here.
It is a shame that resolving an issue with a mail order house isn't begun until the story is spilled out all over the net.

I will say that Rob Johnston coming here to post takes alot.

I will say nothing more until Quarterflash (Bob) has come to this forum.
later, mikey

Rob

You must not read your e-mail because I have sent you an e-mail. I did not prefer to take our problem to the public but do you understand how hard it is to get you to respond? All businesses have problems and challenges but most of us realize we cannot overload our capabilities to the point of bad service. Bad service will cost you more than you will gain from overloading your shop every time. You say you will fix my hood, but the bumper cover is fine. There is nothing fine about any of this, the parts, the fact we are here on this web site, and especially your service. Rob if you remember I told you several times that this car would be in about 14 shows a year so don't tell me you did not know what quality I expected. I also told you that I frequent a lot of web sites and I would post pics on the web. I also told you that I belong to a large car club here in Oregon and I could get you a lot of business. I told you that I would sell your company to the public and my car club. Rob with as much business as I could have brought you why would you send me a product like what I received? I question that you can produce a satisfactory product if I send it back to you, let alone that I would ever see the product again. Then I would be out the product and my money. Screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me. If you want to buy your product it will cost you $979.00 plus any return freight. You as the owner of Showcars can make decisions based on your policies or on what is best for your company and your customer. That is my final word on the subject if I count the hours I have spent on this it far exceeds the value of the parts if they were excellent.

Bob

Quarterflash.
Might i suggest that they send you new parts if you feel that;
1 the original is junk
2 you fear that he will not send you anything in return

showcarsbody-rob -- Welcome to the Hotrodders Bulletin Board

All others -- please be sure to extend the benefit of the doubt to both Quarter Flash and showcarsbody-rob. This way, both sides can be presented equally, and we can leverage our communication skills to resolve our conflicts.

Regardless of the specifics of this situation, company representatives taking the time to communicate in public forums is a positive step, and one that we certainly appreciate.

I've removed several posts from this thread, and split them into the Off-Topic forum.

Quarter Flash has a problem with a supplier. If anyone would like to lend a hand with perspective, commentary, or assistance, please do so.

Those who are using this thread as an attempt to showcase their lowbrow humor, please post elsewhere.

One last post

Rob if you think these parts are sell-able send me new parts done with show car quality and if they are truly show car quality I will send these parts back to you. I am going to heavily advertise for your company it might as well be good. I don't want these parts botched up and returned I want new show car quality parts or my money back. I am willing to completely forgive and forget and start over. Even to the point of marketing your company.
