Just started site for my club

I have by default become the web site administrator for the Reef Street Rod Club here in Johannesburg, South Africa by designing and building the site for them. The site is now live but there's still two or three very minor teething problems but nothing that will affect the casual visitor.

We will be having our monthly newsletter online, our event calendar which links into the event photo galleries and some technical sections too. I have also written a project journal which will only be available to our club's members and it will also allow us to have multiple journals. I will however still keep my HR.com journal up to date and in sync. The whole site was designed in ASP.NET.

In the near future we will also be adding a member's section which will have some info on each member along with photos and specs of their cars.

Please go and check it out and tell me what you think.

Jacques

Thanks Poncho.

Oh yes, we've got most but when it comes to the fifties it seems there are very few two door cars and many at shows will have been converted from 4 door cars like the one I attached. I also have a 48 GMC panel truck which is waiting for rebuild. We've now even goto two companies here, one in Pretoria and one in Port Elizabeth, which offer a few fibreglass bodies, like 32 and 24 Fords and 40/41 Willys Coupes.

There's also a guy that stays on a small holding about 5km from me (I got the GMC from him) and he sort of collects cars that need restoration so that he can re-sell them. He's got a 40 Ford sedan delivery there (right-hand drive) which was sold to some guys that hasn't collected it for about 3 years now. Apparently the buyer doesn't want to know anything of selling it even when offered more than double the purchase price. The second pic and third pic attachments was taken about two years ago but it's typical of what you'll see when you get there.

On the left hand menu, go to events and then to gallery and you'll see a few shows there with many pictures. On Sunday 20 November, there's another Piston Ring Club show which will be uploaded same day.

Looks like the Birth of a new site (nice). It won't cost much for postage on the newsletter just yet What is reef referring to? When I was a kid, there was a movie called Reefer Madness

Thanks. The word "Reef" is actually a bit of a historical thing. It refers to the general geographic area in and around Johannesburg and was more of a nickname. We're sitting on a long gold reef and there are plenty of gold mines along this reef. You will find names like "Main Reef Rd" and "Gold Reef City" (a mining museum which now also has a casino and amusement park).

That engine looks quite different hey? Yeah, it's actually just a 350 SBC with some trick valve covers. That car is actually our club chairman's car.

We are still planning to start a member's gallery to show off all the member's cars together with specs on the cars.
