KBS Rust Seal Report
Hi all,
Still metal working on my sand blasted body and today I started the final acid wash and cleaning on some of my panel welds for the old Plymouth. After cleaning I'm coating all my floor weld seams with 2 coats of KBS Rust Seal, it's similar to POR-15 and Rust Bullet. Then I'm covering with epoxy primer and 3M body and seam sealer where it's needed. I also plan to coat the entire inside of the body and outer floor pan with the KBS product. I did the inside and under side of the cowl today. This is pretty amazing stuff. I put it on with a cheap brush and upon drying it looked as though I had sprayed it on. I had really bad pitting and after the second coat it looked like new metal with a smooth coat of primer. So far, I'm very happy with the way the stuff went on and looks. You can apply it in temps. between 50-80 degrees. It's a little pricey but it really did a nice job. |

why???????????????
Hi,as ive said before,i sandblasted my chassis very good, then brushed 2 coats of POR - 15,and covered the chassis, after finishing all the body work(body off) (almost 2 years)when i uncovered the chassis,i was met by MUCH RUST,and the POR 15 just pulled off in sheets. i DO NOT recommend POR 15 to anybody, for ANY reason...my opinion and ill stick with it.... ![]() |

I have spoken to a number of people who have used it successfully. One eldery fellow had me stop by his farm and look at an old case tractor he painted with the KBS. All he did was pressure wash it and then used their metal prep on it. The tractor sits out all the time and the paint work was about 2 years old. It was ugly looking but no rust. A friend of mine also hooked me up with one of their tech guys...he sold me on the stuff. I think the technology is sound and it works on bare metal. As I recall POR-15 is not recommended for bare metal. It also seems to be a little thicker than POR. I'm down to all bare metal, so I decided to give it a try on the floor and the inside of the body. I had some really heavy pitting and it did a great job. I really like the stuff. Since it's a hot rod only driven in good weather and parked in a heated garage I'll never know about the longevity of the stuff. I am however going to do a test on my snowplow by painting half with POR and half with KBS. Time will tell on that one. |

I wanted to try the technology and so far I'm impressed. Only plan to use it on the floor and the inside body. I will use epoxy primer on the outer body. |
