If you are hell bent on running with just valve cover breathers, install a dummy PCV valve and hose on the carb, Wrap a rag around the end of the PCV and stuff it down the back of the motor. The carb idle circuit will now function correctly as was designed. Reset the throttle blades/idle fuel transfer slot expose and fix the jetting. Reset the idle mixture screws.

The spark plugs are the right heat range for a stock low perf motor.
They are fine for idling and low speed city driving.

If you run it hard with lots of WOT driving they are a bit too hot.
If you want to run it hard, use Champion RV8C or NGK BP7FS or equal. .035" gap
When you correct the carb/jetting/pcv they will stay clean.

You can use up to 24deg base idle timing with the crane roller cam you have.
More base timing= better throttle response and the plugs will stay cleaner also.

You can use a higher stall converter too if you like a hard drag race launch.
3000 stall much better than the 2200 stall,, 3500 stall for max perf with sticky tires.
