key unlocks wheel but wont turn past

so the key in my 91 camaro will turn juust enough to unlock the wheel but no farther, not o acc. not on not anything. when the steering wheel unlocks the wheel turns and makes a clicking noise. im lost and getting fresterated. idk.it just wont turn, iv tryed juggliing, realy craaankiin the wheel. i cant get any father.

Sounds like the tumbler in your column is messed up......You need to replace it. Not sure if you need to remove the wheel to get it out, but I think so.....Maybe someone else on here knows the procedure.

yea, i would need to pull the steering wheel but idk how to do that considering its got an airbag. its was deployed by the last owner and im pretty sure it was just stuffed back in there..

Disconnect the battery and remove any air bag fuses.

ok well i pulled the whole steering colm apart, rerouted the VATS wires from the tumbler, so now i have a tumbeler under my dash with the vats hooked up, u gitta put the key in the ignition and crank it with plyers. success or failure...idk...lol
