That reminds me of a neighbor down the street from me when I was young.
He bought a brand new International Scout ---- this was about 1973ish Orange----white top The passenger side of the lil truck had the wood grained sides and the corresponding trim. The Driver side had nothing-----no trim, no holes for trim, no vinyl wood grain. The new owner did not notice for a few days. Weird But------you can only see one side of the car at a time I guess |

Kia has always had QC issues. not that there bad vehicles, but fit/ finish is always crappy on the interior, always has been. That tops it tho

Mistakes happen,
I remember a late 70's ford pickup that was a metalic brown, two colors, the guy on one side snapped the wrong hose on his gun The color codes were chalked on the firewall as well as metal tag. The guy that chalked them had poor hand writing and the diferent characters looked similar. the tailgate, bed, roof, etc blended very well, In those years the hoods were painted on a side paint line and when it was installed then closed that was the first time some one noticed it , And ther was the time a 59 ford sedan had one door on the drivers side and two on the other, No one read the build sheet, just looked at the body and dash color to pick out the pieces, The story that some one started was that it was going to be a taxi and had one drivers door so the passenger couldn't get out into traffic. Or when limit switches stuck in the body build buck and an 80's mustang side panel went into one side and a Capri went into the other and the buzzer didn't go off. It got welded up that way. and went down the assembly line.

What do you expect from a car company named "KIA"
? Someone didn't do very much in depth research before they chose a name. . Saw a Kia the other day with a Vietnam veteran bumper sticker on it .Vince |

As a body repair man for all my life believe me when the average person leaves the dealership with a new car, it has NO flaws in their mind. To many, the experience is so overwhelming with the signing of the papers promising to pay that big payment every month (just thinking about that makes me want ot puke) to the excitment to show your friends, people don't see that car at all for what it is.
I have seen the look on peoples face too many times that look when you point out to them that the car has a fender that's a different color. No kidding, I have seen it over and over, they say "Can you match the color"? And I say "Yes, it will be much better than the color of your fender" and they look at it and say "What do you mean, this car has never been repaired, I bought it new". I am talking horrible color match or panel fit or something and they never saw it. But they sure would see it if I had repaired the car! Brian |
