I bought a Dart sport that has 1/4 mile slap stick. running the 904 transmission. the car was not having any transmission problems until the local shop suggested and installed the kickdown linkage. know the transmission shifts weird and does not engage when it should ( similar to transmission slip )

One guy said that the prior owner may have but in a manul valve body. thus no kickdown is required. and that all i need to do is remove the linkage or set it so that it is always engaged? what ever that means?

Any idea waht could going on. or how to correct it. I refuse to take it back to the shop again.
