kickdown linkage for t-bucket

I have a 2-speed powerglide tranny and the
283 sbc. Some have told me i don't need a kickdown on the tranny.
Others say i will need it.
what do i do.
I have my car set up like a race car, kill switch with push button start.

I ran mine with a "warm" 351W and C4 for 12 years without a kickdown. The power to weight ratio was good enough that it wasn't really needed - plus I could pull it back to 2nd (done - maybe - 2-3 times), which, unfortunately a 'glide wont have
