King Bearings good? Looking for good bearings
Im looking for some rod and main bearings for my 400 chevy. I am on a budget so Id like them to be inexpensive and good quality. What do you guys prefer?
I was looking at King Bearings off ebay, their only 37 bucks for a set of rod and mains:
"There are many engine builders who prefer to use Kings Alecular bearings over CL-77's
The properties of King Alecular material are kinder to the crankshaft journals. Foreign material that passes through the filter will embed deeper into King bearings then tri metal bearings. This means less damage to the crank journal and longer life.
Sold under part number MB509AM & CR807AM.
These are excellent bearings at a great price.
Suitable for Hi Performance Street/Strip, Claimer Circle Track and Marine applications."
It will be street a mostly street engine with passes down the track about every month or soo. will be a high horse power engine eventually so I want to have a good plateform to start with  Thanks
King bearings should be OK for your intended use. The reason they are cheaper is they are usually made in India or Pakistan. I have seen some delamination problems (material pulled from backing) in a high horse nitrous car, but that may have been an isolated problem..
Doc here, :pimp:
I have used King Bearings for years (Since the late 70's) and never had a problem.
They have a plant just up the road from me in Cordellia Ca..and make ALL types of bearings..
I see, I did do a search before I posted and didn't find info I was looking for....but after I posted the similar threads thing found a post on them....It says that they have .001 extra clearance and causes lower oil pressure? that'll be ok?
I used almost all king bearings in my engine shop when i had it and had real good luck with them. Ran only king in my drag car at 520 hp and after a years use they where still good enough for any street motor. Would recommend them to anyone.
