Street Beast cars are a joke......

If you get you one running, they are laughed at by most street rodders at the rod runs.

Aside from the cobras, 20'30'40's cars , I think most kits are kind of frumpy. You know the ones, some sort of sports car design that fits a vw or fiero...most of those look sort of cheesy. A GT40 would be slick. A Countach with V6 or V8 sound?? all wrong in my eyes.

I've never had one, but its pretty popular around here. There are about 7-10 kit cars drioving around, only a few are done, but they are still here. Me and a bud saw one of those 'glass countach bodies on a feiro at a junk yard. the body and deck lids were there, but no doors. Could have gotten it, but I didn't have any way to get it home. That and my bros's sis got decapitated in a feiro so I stay away from them.

They have a bunch of really cool kits, they are exspensive but they can be a cool little daily driver mod.

ya know, shelby HATES those kit car companies and accually took the biggest one to court so they can't call them cobras anymore and some other crap i don't all remember. I think the article i was reading said he has a plant in arizona and still makes cobras.

For the same reason you don't see StreetBeast kits called "33 Ford Vicky". They're called "33 Vicky" and "33 Coupe" etc. Seems someone at Ford had a problem with the quality and accuracy of the junk that comes from StreetBeast and there was discussion of a law suit. StreetBeast wisely bowed to Ford's wishes and rightly so. If you park one of their "33 Vickys" next to a real 33 Ford they look nothing alike. More like a toy than anything else.

I believe Shelby's facility is in Las Vegas. And yes he does hate Cobra replicar companies. But he can't stop them from calling the cars Cobras as long as they use the term replica as well. Along the same lines, calling a StreetBeast a Ford Vicky would be just like calling a VW Beetle a Corvette. The differences are so great that they're not even in the same class.

Just do your homework (you remember that term from school, don't you?) and buy the best kit (body/frame/hardware) you can afford, and if you can't afford the best, save a little more money.
Repop Cobras which are well-built are really neat cars to have, a timeless design and fast with the right drivetrain (regardless of make).
The wussy moniker becomes glued to you when you can't answer the simple questions at the drive-in car gathering:
What suspension and brakes are you using?
What master cylinder/booster did you use?
You know, the stuff any car BUILDER would know.

"If you build it they will stare" Ok so it's not the right quote but it is the truth. I live in a small town and there is a Shell valley cobra runnin around and everyone thinks the same thing 1 It's not a 'REAL' cobra it's just a kit. and
2 Gee I wish it was mine!
It takes just as much skill to build a decent kit car as most hot rods considering the options you have. I wouldn't say it's in the league of Coddington but since even he is selling kits they must be hotrods of a sort. can you tell I really want one?

By the by I read once that Shelby decided not ot bother fighting the kit companies, he decided if they would make a $1000 donation to heart transplants for each car sold he would drop the lawsuits. Any one else ever hear something along those lines.

Ain't nothin wrong with a Cobra. I've always wanted a GT-40 ever since I got my ***** whooped by one in Gran Tourismo for Playstation One. Yea yea, I know "real good reason loser". But I've never really seen or heard of them till then, so maybe way on down the road, I'll look into it.

I'VE HEARD A LOT OF NEG. PRESS on street beasts, as far as ill fit, poor manufacture of components, etc. i've never seen one up close. (i guess???).... having said that, street beasts also make the only cobra coupe body that i'm aware of........ maybe when i get through with the truck, and have the $$$ to do something else, i'll get to check them out up close and personal....

i'm thinking 2x4 frame with a jag rear, mII front end, and a hot 427 or 428. most likely a 428. a mod motor would be nice, but thats a whole 'nother pita....

factory five? is that the outfit out of dfw that uses the 5.0 setup for the base of the car?
if so, i've not read anything bad about them. check out http://www.clubcobra.com/

How about doing a replica Chevrolet Cheetah? There would be so few people out there that actually would know it was a Cheetah, and far fewer who could pick out replication flaws. Almost nobody knows what the originals looked like, how would they know that the replica is off? And in my biased opinion they are far cooler looking than a Cobra.

Don't get me wrong, I love Cobras and would love to one day own one. But the Cheetah is a rarely done replica.
