Kitchen Nightmares

I watched the episode of Amy's Baking Company on Kitchen Nightmares last night and I have to tell you it was a hoot! How two people could put a million dollars into a restaurant and run it the way they are running it is beyond me. Bad service, nasty food, yelling at the customers and treating their employees like dirt, what are they thinking.

Amy is a carbon copy of my younger sister with the exception that she snagged a rich old dude and isn't living off her mom. She wouldn't listen to any advice or criticism, any advice from Chef Ramsay brought a tirade from her mouth. She firmly believes that everyone is against her and everything she does is right.

Her apparently rich ex-playboy husband is an enabler, reinforcing Amy's volatile behavior. Yelling at customers and ordering them out of the restaurant then demanding they pay before they leave. He is some kind of control freak himself but he is obviously whipped by his wife. He refuses to let the server do her full job then he takes all the tips for himself saying he does most of the job himself anyway. He readily admitted to Mr Ramsay that they had been through over 100 employees in a years time.

It was a wild episode ending in Chef Ramsay stating that he could not help this restaurant. I enjoyed it because Amy is cut from the same mold as my little sister. If you get an opportunity to watch this episode it's defiantly worth a look.

What I never get about this show is how bad these restaurants are. Its like no one at the restaurant especially the owner...s ever thought about going through the restaurant for problematic areas and fix n cleanup. Its like oh your parents are coming on monday?!?! And then the cleaning and organizing begins no matter how clean it already is. Plus the whole brainwashing them all into being lil ramseys until they get teed off realizing what really is going on and they have a bout then reconcile and all become happy lil ramsey clones. Its only good for those bored nothing to do and nothing else is on times. Or if you have to make the best of it because she put it on.... maybe its because of that ramsey guy cuz she likes that hells kitchen show too and its even more annoying. Ok im done...guess I shouldve just said i dont like it lol

He came to a restaurant here in town with a very similar situation. The trophy wife had remodeled the joint spending something crazy like $600k the tiles in the bath room were like $60 each! They found rotting food in the freezer, a lot of it. The place was a friggin joke and I will NEVER go back there again. Yet the parking lot is full when I go by there in the evening! I don't get it, there are such wonderful places to eat in this town, it is a foodies dreamland yet people are going there after seeing that show? I have to assume not everyone saw it and what Ramsy did to change it REALLY did work? But if you saw the show I can't see how you would ever go there again, ewwwww.

That episode is picking up steam. There is a story on Yahoo about it now. The newspaper ran a story on it Sunday. Chit is also hitting the fan on Facebook.

Sadly the place will probably be swamped, bad publicity is just as good as good publicity at times. Time will catch up as the looky loos fall off.

They were talking about it on the Today show this morning. They said it went viral. I don't think they are going to get too many gawkers showing up to see what that place is all about but who knows.
