Yeah, if he tries to act all cool, just rake his shin with the heel of your boot as you stomp on his instep.

***** slap him on his neck right below his jaw and wait about two heart beats. Youll like it, its fairly simple and intriguing. Just , you have to participate to get what its all about.

Thumbs up Enter the Mustang

Hey mustangbaby good to see ya. I think it is a great idea for all women to get involved in some form of personal defense. I used to do Tang So Do (sp?) when I was a kid. It was fun. Not only is it a good way to learn to defend your self, you get to spend some quality time with your new man.

What about Kung Fu do you want to know? The top martial art in the world at the moment is the Shaolin Kung Fu style from the Shaolin temple in Honan China. There is also a temple in London, Spain and New York. They each have one Sifu (master) trained in the Honan temple for 25 years. In the New York studio you can train with Sifu Shi Yan-Ming in meditation, Chan Buddhism, Chi Kung, Kung Fu, and Tai Chi. Kung Fu is a very arobic martial art and takes a person in very good shape to be well at it, but can be done by anyone as long as they are willing to work at it. Meditation and Chi Kung as well as Tai Chi help center your mind and have the ability to use your Chi for conditioning as well as a strong mind and body. Kung Fu teaches you how to use your body like nothing else can, but it not only teaches the fluid movement, but how to "be" water. How to adapt and overcome and how to not only use your body but use everything else as well. You have to use everything in order to be great at Kung Fu, not just want to beat people up or learn to fight. Its a great martial art and when taught by the right Sifu it can teach you more about yourself and others than anything else in the world. I highly recomend the Shaolin temple in New York. You can choose to or not to participate in the Chan Buddhism, its not hinged upon it.

My daughter is a orange stripe in Tang Soo Do, She tests for her green belt in August. She 9 and should have her black belt by 13.
I like the thought of her being able to handle bad situations when she is a teenager (although she make pretty smart choices now).

I take Mong Su Dom Tai, it has alot of its roots in kung fu. I will have my blue belt in august and then i gotta quit and go to college anway, it is great, but if you don't like it yourself, you shouldn't make yourself like it. same goes for anything though. Oh, and BTW, just cause he is small, doesn't mean he is a push over. If you are serious about it, your technique will allow you to overcome even the largest person. I have seen some crazy things that little guys (and girls) can do if they know how or are pushed to their limits. But like it has ben mentioned before, if you just wanna learn to kick someone's tail you probably won't get out of it what you want.

Thank you HK that was very insightful. You told me a lot more than I have been able to find out so far. It has interested me for a while, but now that my guy friend does it and tells me how much he loves it, I am getting interested. So I think in a few months I am going to join and I think I will like it. Thank you for the information.

Ya, but you can still shoot him in the foot from 10 ft away and Kung Fu won't help. Martial Arts are contact sports, where American Firepower is a "Reach out and touch somebody" situation

Mustangbaby, Rodrunner, Shaolin Kung Fu is the top martial art today not because its fun or the most widely taught, but because its practcle. The Shaolin temple in Hunan China is known as the home of the fighing monks. They wern't originally fighters, but over the years with the temples location they house hundreds of soldiers and warriers from the elements and ave them food and water and medical attention. The Shaolin style of Kung Fu is the top martial art because its practicle and was formulated from many different styles taught to the monks from the front line soldiers for the monks hospitality and personal protection and the monastery. The monks refined and perfected this style incorperating the meditation they already did into the art to further enhance the effectivness of the movements by conditioning the mind and body, thus getting all of the body to work together in full consentration for one main perpose.

I've studied Shaolin style as well as other martial arts such as Wing Tsun dummy and ironpalm and many different styles of Kung Fu therein such as drunken monkey and crain. I havn't learned as much as I like do to my poor location with absolutly no Kung Fu instructors, but I still practice what I know to keep in shape. Tai Chi isn't really a fighting style, but can be used as one. I'd get into Tai Chi then progressivly move forward to Kung Fu once you get the basic principle and concentration. Its deffinatly a valuable thing. Knowledge is freedom and the road to independance.
