That's a cool drivetrain package. I've not done this swap, but the folks who have typically use the PCM from a 4th gen F-body with the 3800NA and 4L60E. Be aware that 99-up are throttle by wire, so you probably want an earlier one. The PCM gets reflashed to fuel the SC motor. Good luck

That will work, but he still needs an ECU for the engine. The F-body ECU controls both the engine and the 4L60E.

They also sell the LS series engine controller, that is also plug and play. Don't get me wrong using the ECM from a donner vehicle is great if you have the skills etc........ GMs controller are supposed to be easy as pie to install

Probably not plug and play for the L67, which is the supercharged Buick 3800SC motor.

May not be but with a phone call to the Chevy Dealer he'd know for sure, I know it will work for the newer LSA motor which is the Cadillac supercharged 6.2, which is what is going in my project.
In my case I didn't want to go thru the process of guessing what was what and eliminate the VATs and other programs that my old 67 doesn't have. In my research it was very easy to reflash the ECM if you had the correct Tech II (not sure on the proper name) reprogrammer etc..... and for a fee there were alot of folks that would do it.......... however sometimes you didn't get the reflash for your exact application, you get one, that would work but it was for whatever vehicle they had purchased a license for ie..... C6 vette, which would probably work on most LS based motors etc..... but not the SC LSA etc....... So I opted to fore-go the donner ECM in favor of a GM Performance plug in play ECM that was engine only and not all the other stuff I didn't want or need. May not be for everybody but IMO it is a sound option. At the end of the day....... His vehicle, his money, and his skill level |

Sinister performance and Intense Racing have extensive experience with the L67/4L60E arrangement. They already have the code to flash my pcm. I'm just trying to sort out as much of the electrical before I dive into this project. I know things will pop up, but I want to have as much in order before I begin. They have answered a lot of my questions, but there is still a lot left. Based upon my conversations with them I am going to use the non-supercharged L36 harness that comes from the F-body. I will have to switch the MAP connector from the L67 harness to the new one. There is still a question mark on the fuel injector connectors. Some say they are different some say they are not. The injectors are clearly different, but does anyone know about the connectors?
More importantly though is a question I have about the gauges. Ultimately I want to try to use the gauge cluster from a firebird, but initially to save time and money I found a way to use a $35 OBD2 wifi transmitter, an Android tablet or phone and an app called Torque to display all of my gauges. It's amazing and trick as hell. My question for you all is do I need the F-body Body Control Module and associated harness to get the gauges to work either with the tablet or the Firebird cluster? I was under the impression all of that data came from the PCM, but think the BCM might be needed for the gauges to interpret the data. Thanks |

I put an L67 in my '67 Volvo wagon. I went with the T5 manual transmission. I used the donor ('98 Pontiac GTP) ECU along with the gauges from a '97 Camaro. I bought a Helms manual for the GTP and figured out the wiring. I used an American Auto wire kit for the body stuff. Blood Enterprises in Auburn, Wa used an HP Tuners license, put the car on a dyno and checked that every thing was working, calibrated the speedo and raised the speed limiter.
Your list looks pretty complete to me, although I don't know what you mean by a -square coil plug per side. I only used one oxy sensor in the driver side collector (I built 3 into 1 headers) like the donor car and bought this: Easy Performance - O2 Emulator #EP-O2SM-GM01 for the after cat Oxy sensor. Take a look at my photos and/or PM with ? |
