lag or lack of power

hi everyone
i'll get straight to it.. i'm working on a 350 and am having trouble with a lag off idle and really a lack of power..... i recently installed a 292H magnum .501 lift cam,rpm air gap intake magnum roller tip rockers, pushrods guide plates, new springs decked the heads 650 double pumper carb,...i"m having a heck of a time trying to get it to perform..timing marks are way out to lunch so i tried power timing it. it got a little better but its still acting like its retarded and labouring!!!anyone have any suggestions?would appreciate some tips thx!

Timing 36 degrees all in @ 2500 rpm that should pick it up . Other tweaking, carb tuning and possibly jetting will refine it .

For instance, say your curve is such that your timing reaches its maximum advance at 2500 rpm. While holding the engine at the 2500 rpm adjust your timing too 36 degrees and lock it down . If it pings back it down 2 degrees, SBCs typically love 34-36 total ... mine likes 36 .

The 292H magnum requires a lot lot lot of timing at idle.
Lock out the mechanical advance curve and set the locked timing at 36deg BTDC . It will idle and respond much better.

Check the balance timing tab for true tdc using a piston stop. correct as nessessary.
The 292H magnum requires a 3500 stall converter minimum.

You better have some compression. And a low-ish rear gear unless the vehicle is very light weight. Knowing the details of the engine build will help.
