Lamp cross reference

Forgive me if this has been posted before (I searched, but couldn't find anything). I'm trying to replace all the bulbs in my car, however I'm having a hard time matching the existing numbers to the "new" numbers. I've got the factory service manual with "trade numbers", but I can't seem to find matches for those trade numbers. Here is what I've got as trade numbers:

69AG (a small bulb for the clock)
3004E (various bulbs - I think it is a single bayonet fitting)
4001 - Headlight hi beam (4 light system)
4002 - Headlight lo beam (4 light system)
2000E - Small bulbs
3008E
3004E

How can I cross reference these numbers to current part numbers?

Thanks much!

Rob

Thanks, much! I sent him an email and thus far, he has been very helpful. The scary part is that he didn't recognize most of the "trade numbers" that were in my factory service manual, and he said he is familiar with a LOT of trade numbers, even foreign ones...

Someone else suggested that I see if I could find an old Sylvania/GE part book from the 80's and see if I could find numbers in that. I'm going to try that route as well....

The trouble is you seem to be working on an early Capri, so you'd
need a Euro catalog from the '70s... Have you tried Hella??

I looked at Hella's site, but couldn't find any listings for a Capri. Anyone know of any scans of old parts catalogs available online?

This link is huge, but parts seem to be available from Dorman...

If you have the socket, could you match up the bulb??

Hope that works...

I now have a complete list of bulb numbers for my car, thanks to Daniel. I talked with him, and he is a fountain of information, and very nice to boot. I have not ordered the bulbs from him yet, but I'm sure they will be excellent quality and shipped quickly. Thanks for introducing me to him. I will be using him in the future.

He certainly knows his stuff - One tidbit that I would have never thought of - For my front turn signal bulbs, he said that an 1156 (or 1157) would FIT the socket, but that it wasn't the correct spec. Apparently european sockets are not as waterproof as US spec sockets, so they spec a nickel plated base instead of a brass base. If you use the brass base, it will cause more corrosion.

Anyway, I would highly recommend this guy. Shoot him an email and he will respond quickly.

Thanks so much for the info!

Rob
