The last day of 2003! What were the highlights of your year?

I can't believe another year has come and gone. We did alot of car related stuff this year, but here are some of the moments that really stick out, both good and bad.

May 2003 - Resurrected the 95 GT for the <cough> 4th time. This time, the car came out carbed and tunnel rammed. It turned a couple of heads, and once we made the point that it could be done, we scrapped the set up. Car is in pieces as we speak.

July 2003 - started working for Ford Motor Co.

July 2003 - Watched in horror as my stepfather was taken by ambulance to one of the area's biggest hospitals after learning he had an aneurysm in a large vein in his leg. They transplanted a new vein, and even though he was out of work for 3 months, he's 100% fine now.

July 2003 - Took above mentioned GT to FFW. Got appraoched by MM&FF who told us they'd do a feature on the car if we threw it on the dyno. We explained that it had a few bugs that still needed worked out, they pressed the issue. So.....blow the motor for a 3 page article in my favorite magazine, knowing I don't have money to replace the motor, or decline, and enjoy the car for what it's worth. I declined.

August 2003 - ran 89 LX convertible for the first time. E/T = 16.0 @ 90 MPH. Blistering times.

October 2003 - Tried in vain to organize a car show for a in honor of a friend with brain cancer. Show flopped. 95 GT died (alternator) but made it home under it's own power.

October 2003 - 10 days after above car show, lost a very close friend at age 38. I'm still trying to come to grips with it.

December 2003 - had a really cool 2nd birthday party for our youngest child. It's significant, because it's like she actually cared this time, in comparison to the first b-day.

The year had has its ups and downs, but for some reason, it seemed to go pretty fast. How was your '03?

Well Carbed you're right about it flying by and as you get older they go even quicker

It's gone that fast for me I can't really remember any really significant highs .

I lost a long time friend back in February to the same ailment your Stepfather had , he was 42 .

Lost a cousin to breast cancer in August , she was 47 with 4 kids.

On a brighter note..................

I've got back into the car hobby after over 15 yrs away from it , whole new learning curve ahead .

I found this great forum to hang out with a bunch of like minded guys .

Finally managed to give up playing Unreal Tournament after 4 years , I never seen my girlfriend with such a big smile on her face . I do miss it though , had a lot of fun and met some great people (cyberwise of course). If I could get it to run on XP I think I'd still be a Shock Ho on a server somewhere LOL

I broke my rear end doing a massive burnout on my Comet, I finally retired the old 67 F250 and bought a 2001 Chevy Silverado. I found a door and 2 front side marker lights for my 73 Mustang, but they were attached to a whole car so I bought it for $200. I recieved 10 stiches in my hand with a big slide hammer trying to pull the axles so I could get the third member for my Comet. I had two friends die, 1 one a freak auto accident and the other one on his brand new Harley. He just bought it and was heading home and the motor locked up, it put him into a skid into oncoming traffic going 60 MPH. I played in the wild horse races at Cheyenne Frontier Days and at Cripple Creek, was also going to do the Colorado State Fair but I had enough *** whippin by then. The last high point of 2003 is that I dumped my evil ex, that is pretty much the highs and lows for me in 2003.

Highs:
Oldest boy graduated high school and in to college/work program.
Celebrated ouor 25th anniversary (2nd honeymoon cruie in Jan. 04)
Got in 2 really good motorcycle outings.
Sold our antique business so now the little woman and I have more time for motorcycling, travel and just hanging out together and with the kids.
Got the body back on the 38 after 2 years.

Lows:
Lost a friend to cancer. ( wouldn't quit smoking even after she found out)
Right before christmas another friend has cancer already progressed to stage 4. No med. ins. either.
point being... People in our baby boomer age should get checked out if you feel bad for an extended time. Both of these women never went to the Dr. until way too late. I know we wont' last forever but keep healthy as long as you can.
HAVE A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUOS NEW YEAR FOLKS.

Oh YEAH! I ALMOST FORGOT.
One more high for 2003. I got to meet Kev 45, Weimer and Centerline. Maybe i'll get to meet a few more of you this year. Cool!

I can't really think of anything phenonmenal outside of fighting with the transplant team to get listed, finally getting listed and 4 weeks later getting the call for my new kidney. And now here I am, 3 weeks out like nothing ever happened.
