The latest...

Well guys after all summer of seemingly endless puttying, sanding and primeing, it still needs more of the same. I think I'm ready for paint but the more I look, the body says not yet, bub. I may just give up and paint anyhow in the spring. Anyways here she is on the last illegal (no plates) trip around town for the year. Time to put her away for the winter. Unless we have a mild winter then I may just massage her just a little more.
Here she is, the latest... and greatest...

I don't know.... I kind of like the two tone gray look.

Just keep plugging and pretty soon it will look back at you and say.... ENOUGH ALREADY! Looking good so far though.

Don't get discouraged and rush to paint,,you will certainly regret it if you went ahead with painting it before its really ready, every little flaw will show up in final paint,, you have come way too far to settle for a hurry up paint job,, maybe a lay off over the winter will help,,

Its really looking good,, what color are you thinking?? I just finished a 36 chev 4dr and we painted it the chrysler " cool vanilla" [off white] with a little gold and platenum pearl in it..

Thanks, Lowstreet.

You too Centerline, I know you do great work on your rides.

Ponch, your close. It's 5 yrs last month.

BAd Rat, I know your right and I'm trying to fight the urge to splash on some color. I'm thinking copper on top and a pearl white on the bottom seperated by a gray band around the belt line.

Heres a little unknown fact; I joined Hr.com because I saw your journal (at that time "featured project").
I loved how you did everything at home in your yard on the cheap, how you traded labour for the clip and for the wheels etc.
I didnt know much about hotrodding then and since I joined I've been bitten by the bug and have learned so much since.
Looking good, cant wait to see it done.

Mike

I too have enjoyed watching 38 step by step through out his project. I really liked keeping up with him and his project because it is being built by the owner and he used a lot of old school low buck ideas and he is going to really have a nice hotrod when he gets through and he can say that he did most of the work himself and built the car at home. It is really quite a acomplishment and my hat is off to you !

Aw, shucks! Thanks guys. That really means a lot to me. Just goes to show you, you can do it yourself.
Even though it has been a low budget ride I just got done totaling up the expense so far and I was shocked to see it has came up to $4673.38 so far. Paint, I know will cost a pretty penny even though my son and I will do that ourselves also. I just bought some obsolete material from work for 5 bucks. That's a cheap trunk job. Gotta make those dollars stretch on those back yard do it yourself projects. That'll probably be one of my winter projects as well as rebuilding the headlights. I can't wait to see this ride finished myself and my goal is to be road worthy next summer. My youngest son wants to use it for his senior prom next year but Idon't think I'll make that deadline, wish I could though. Who knows maybe I will.
