Lazy Lifter

So I was out for a drive last night and my engine starts making this ticking noise that gets louder under acceleration and is still there at idle. I have a 350 sbc .030 over with a Comp Cams XR270HR, RHS 180 heads and the engine was just rebuilt less than 1000 miles ago. Noise has just developed and seems to be getting louder. My mechanic says it sounds like i have a lazy lifter, a term I have not heard before.
Any idea what needs to be done to remedy this situation. All the engine components are brand new. Car is a Sunday driver and never goes racing.

Lazy Lifter.LOL! You could have a bad lifter or just 1 rocker that needs readjusting. I'd pull the Valve covers and check all your rocker arm adjustments before driving anymore. Maybe a setscrew on 1 of the polylocks has gotten loose. You are using roller rockers, right? Follow up after you check them. Good luck.
