leaking carb flange gasket

my carburator gaskets are leaking. the squarebore gasket that seals the phenolic spacer to the manifold is leaking. i just ran it and its wet. whats a good trick to seal this up? please advise.

silicone + gasket or
dry gasket or
just silicone

Silicone & gas don't get along.... I have had good luck with a new gasket and some aviation sealant.

They guy that rebuilt my carb told be to put tranny fluid on my gaskets to swell them up before I installed them.
Haven't tried it yet.

Vaseline will help seal a gasket if applied thinly.First thing is make 100% sure that all the old material is removed from the carb base and the intake.Check for flatness also. Fuel leaks are more common to come from a worn throttle blade shaft bore though.Check to make sure that i snot worn any and allowinf fuel to seep through.

whilest i was inspecting my fuel bowls i decided to do the bowls gaskets. i noticed that the hole for the accelerator pump had all kinds of flash. the hole in the bowl casting. on the inside diaphram side. is this normal?

Holly Carb? They are a cast design,so they will have flashing and be porus.The flash shoult be removed if it can be recahed easily without gouging anything.
