Leaking frost plugs ??

On a 350 sbc engine....... is there a frost plug on the rear of the engine block?
I just installed a new engine and after starting it and the radiator gets to 180 degrees there is an antifreeze leak that drips between the engine block and the bellhousing. The drip is coming from the lower dust shield area.
What would be the source of the leak? After the engine cools down the leak is gone..... I'm stumped....
Any suggestions to solving this problem would be appreciated.
Thanks

re: Leaking frost plugs ??

yep there are 2 freeze plugs in the rear of the block, sealant should be used on them to ease installation and prevent leaks. There could be a crack, but would be rare on the rear of the block. Are you certain the intake doesnt have a leak in the rear water ports thats running between the bellhousing? If it is the frost plugs, you maybe able to use a coolant sealer like bars stop leak or the like, but to fix it correctly, you'll have to pull the engine. It likely only leaks when warm due to the pressure in the cooling system.
