Leaking Headers

I have a set of headers on my pickup and have been trying to find an exhaust leak in them for sometime now. They are Heddman Hedders shorty style and the leak seems to be coming from where the 4 primary tubes come together at the collector down between the 4 tubes. I used a stethoscope and put a 8 inch long piece of 5/16 brake tubing into the plastic tubing so I could get down between the pipes without burning the plastic tube. It defiantly gets louder and sounds like a leak down in there.
Anyone have any suggestions ?????
Thanks , Gene

I actually had exactly this problem on a set of headers. The weld inside where the four tubed joined at the collector was bad. You'll have to pull the collector off and look inside the header at the ends of the primary tubes. I had to reach in and weld up the gap that way.

What Joe said. I am surprised Hedman has that problem, it occurs a lot with the cheaper headers.

Inspect inside like suggested above. If they're not very old you should contact Hedman, they may help with repair or a new set.
I agree you shouldn't have any problems with Hedman, I never have.
