leaking turbo 350

hey folks i have a tci turbo 350 trans in my 79 malibu. it has all the goodies. stage 2 shift kit manual valve body heavy duty sprag etc etc. well my problem is i cant get the pan to stop leaking fluid between the gasket and the pan. im not over tightening the allen head bolts that come with the pan but i am using a rubber gasket. the only side it leaks from is the passenger side of the trans. ive checked the dipstick o-ring thats good. checked the tranny lines they are good as well. no leaks from the modulator valve either. if i crawl under the car i can definitely see that its leaking from the pan and gasket. in the past ive always used a thin bead of ultra black permatex on the outside rail of the pan so it doesnt slide off when i go to bolt it up. is this my problem??? or should i not use any permatex and just bolt it up with the gasket??? im out of answers to this problem. thanks for replies. curtis

Since you have watched this leak so closely. checked the local spots for leaks : dip stick , detent cable install, accumilator cover, modulator ..

is it possible the case is cracked at a bolt hole in the pan rail of the case?

Was the detent cable the style with O rings or the rubber sleeve design? If the rubber sleeve was used , the sleeve must be installed into the case first , then the cable pushed in.

leaking turbo 350

silicone and rubber gasket , makes the gasket squeeze out , use spray contact glue or the rubber brush on yellow snot stuff works best
how big are the allen head bolts , do they have enough flat area to lap the pan cover ?
the leak occur after driving or just sitting still not running .
if it's full of fluid , it should not be high enough to leak at passing detent cable or lines when sitting .
does it leak after sitting for awhile ?
your pump has a steel ball in it that sometimes lets the torque convertor drain back to pan and will over fill and run out detent cable or did stick tube
and sometimes out hole in yoke where u-joint is .
if you have high calcium in concrete , it seems to draw out trans fluid ,why i don't know , but it does .

when sealing dip stick and detent cable , spray off area's with brake cleaner and let dry , use a good sealer with silicone and let sit a hole day , then add fluid .can't rush that silicone to work , but it will work.

hope this helps your puddle .
