Leathers

I am trying to decide what leather I want to use in my 35 Panel truck. I am open for any suggestions anyone may have.
Being it is such a large area in the rear panels, I was thinking of using 2 different leathers , or leather/suede to break up the design. I am adding some chrome hardware into this area.
Can someone shed some light on the different leathers available, or a site I can go to for some explaination. Also who may be the most reputable supplier.
Thanks
Russ

If you want info on leather, try the Spinneybeck web site. What you want is either top grain or full grain leather. Whatever you do, don't buy closeouts and remember that inexpensive leather is generally not very good quality. The cheaper the leather, the harder it is to work with and the more waste you'll have. Try to find a place that specializes in leather, not a jack of all trades place. A leather hide is approximately 45 to 55 square ft., which is equal to about 3 yards of fabric that comes on a roll 54" wide. Using more than one color or mixing in suede is a good idea. Smaller pieces will help with not having as much waste.
