If you are concerned about the value of the car as a collector's car, keep it. It will make a big difference in the value that way. If you are making alot of changes to the car that will take away from it's collector car value anyway, might as well take that out if it bothers you.

Thanks for your posts guys, I'm taking so many short cuts on this car as it is, that i decided to yank out the A/C today. Im 17 cant afford much at the moment. If anyone wants the old A/C unit, its your's for a 100 bucks i figure, the plastic on the iner heater box has a hole 4x4, not it good shape, but has the origonal tags on it.

I am currently considering the same. The old motor is out and the new one will be hear hopefully by christmas. I've always had all the stuff for the A/C and but it hasn't had coolant since I bought the car 7 years ago. I always told myself that I would some day but now I want to maximize performance (cooling, weight savings) but it will cost at least and extra $100 for an A/C delete blower. I think I am felling the same way, pull it out and add it later when I want to and can afford the belt conversion.

You guys are LUCKY,you live in a ckimate where you dont need a/c.
The heat where I leave is brutal in summer and not having an a/c here is like not having a heater up north! |

need AC ....... no one needs AC.
Believe it or not cars at one time did not have AC or vidio, gps, cell phones, disk players, xbox, electric windows, self dimming rear view mirror's, heated seats, foot massager's, power steering, usb ports, and a voice that tells you, "you are out of gas " we had to figure that one out all by ourselves.. and I walked a mile too school in 30 feet of snow. lol |

Here in Phoenix we are looking for 110 today and 113 tomorrow, would I have a car without A/C here?
Hell No! My '54 project is getting a lot of insulation and A/C when it finally cools off enough I can work on it without getting 2nd degree burns when I touch the sheet metal.
