Legendary Drag race Stude

Peter Magel's 1952 Stude "The Maggot". I used to steer the car around corners when Pete flat towed the car to the track behind his Stude pick-up. We where friends back in the day and he got me started in drag racing.I lost track of Pete and the car.Last I heard yrs ago was Pete got sick with lung issues from the solvents and the car was in a barn in Clarence,NY under a tarp.

52 stude drag car "the Maggot" - THE H.A.M.B.

I just happened to stumble over this ad while surfing:

VINTAGE DRAG CAR 1952 STUDEBAKER THE MAGGOT

The things Pete and his brother John did with the Stude's and Hudson's hornets and Hudson jet's where legendary. Pete won every wk. Jim Oddy told me with all the things he blew up threw the yr with is D/Gas 37 Chevy,Pete took home more money than he did.

Moving this to the lounge, it is car related and should get more exposure in the lounge.

Gary going up to Buffalo to visit Peter in the nursing home I hope that goes well for him as they have a lot of history. I say that as I don't know if Peter has to much interest in history any more. History doesnt mak him feel better. Its unfortunate that's he's sick if not he could still go to the tracks where he raced and be introduced as one of the legends of Jr.Stock ( ? ) Carr

Peter died Aug 11,2014 To sick to care that the thief sold his Maggot and Lark for 2000$ with out a Lark registration because he sent it to me and I HAVE IT. The buyer told me he bought it to put back in racing shape to keep me quiet and immediately put it up for sale for 10000$. Thankfully he never got it. Now that he's dead I don't know why I care except that the people who aced him are getting away with it Perer alive or dead.

RIP Pete"the maggot" Magel

I was a bartender at The White Lodge next door to Pete's shop in 1968-69 I knew a few of his secrets,I'll just divulge one; he used an avanti crank in his '52 block. He was a good (if tempermental) guy. RIP Pete, your type of racer is disappearing too fast. tom
