Lifter Noise

im having lifter noise after i shut engine off. seems to run great installed new heads intake carb same lifters as before... every time i shut it off it makes like 3 or 4 ticks and then stops adjusted valves like 3 times to make sure then when running it is fine ........chevy 350 79 z28

How many miles on the engine and are you absolutely sure the ticking is coming from the lifters?

not sure I am reading this right , but the first thing that comes to mind is a heat shield cooling off some where, header , starter, muffler type of thing. Never heard of lifers making any noise after the engine has stopped turning. but then again we are talking about a machine
