A couple of moderator notes here;
1..chlsnk.. double posts will NOT get a person banned here at HR... I put the double posts from jb63vet into one thread. 2.... jb63vet ; profanity will get you banned... profanity known as "masked profanity" as you posted is against the rules you agreed to at the sign up. So , lets move forward here and keep things clean please.

Unless some component (yoke, transmission output shaft, etc) was changed, could it be that either the shorter yoke shaft or the output spline have one wider groove to make it fit in just one way? Sometimes it's the simple stuff that causes the biggest headache. Just my take...
In a while, Chet. |

It's obviously "not all the same", or else you would not be fighting with it..
If I were facing a situation like you have, I'd pull the tailshaft housings off both your 4L60E and your 700r4, then compare the length of the splines on the output shaft. I did a trans swap on one car,(forgot what it was now ), the the output shafts were the same spline count, same diameter, but the old yoke would not go on more than a couple of inches. We went to our local driveline shop, and found that the proper yoke for that trans was smooth on the inside of the bore for a few inches before the splines started.....IIRC The difference in output shafts is that one had splines about 3" long, then necked down to allow the yoke with the full length splines to fit all the way in....The other shaft was not stepped, and needed the smooth bore yoke... PS..reading posts with a bunch of asterisks is irritating to many people on this board..You'll get better answers if you use words that don't get caught in the profanity filter or edited out by our friendly moderating staff. .Hope this helps, Mikey

...So....,After all this, has the initial problem with "no-fitment" been resolved, or not?
If so...what was found to be causing the difficulty? ("Enquiring minds want to know") -Jim |

That's all great, but you are posting technical questions here, not text messaging your cousin.. If I remember correctly, you could not get the yoke in the tailshaft housing far enough.. If the yoke does not go in there is a reason, did you read any of the suggestions that might solve your problem? Did you get the yoke in? Or was there no problem at all? Later, mikey

yeah jim i got it to go in a lil bit ferther but was tired or messing with it by that time so it will be in tomarrow and i just took a wire brush wheel one the air drill stuck it in the yoke got it looking like it was a crome shaft on the inside and the hit it with some tranny fluid inside it (filled the yoke) then strated shoving it in it would have gone all the way in but my damn arms were so tired from screwing with it and other crap all day i said F it i'll do it in the morning

Would it be possible to properly capitalize, punctuate, and put each thought into separate paragraphs so that we do not need to GUESS at what you are saying? Last edited by mmerlinn; 09-29-2008 at 01:46 AM. |
