A lil tuning help

I've got a 350 bored 40 with flat tops lunati 60102 cam 487x heads rpm manifold and a 1406 carb. The truck is slow on take off it won't even powerbrake. I've tried messing with the rods and springs in the carb adjusting the acc. pump lever and changed the advance springs out in the distributor but nothing has helped. My question is what rods and springs should I use in the carb and what springs should I use in the dis. Also what should i set the timing to and should I use the vacuum advance? This things got me confused any help would be appriciated...

You're overlooking an important part of the equation..... your rear end gear ratio .
What gears are you running now ?
You'll boil your tires with some 4.11's or 4.56's . What trans are you running with it ? Your engine sounds like it's built good enough , but it's only 1/3 of the equation.

Sounds like you have too many things going on at the same time. Put your 1406 back to the factory settings, do the same for your advance springs and timing........get it running good, then start tweaking. (one thing at a time) Remember, each modification you do affects everything else. The mods you made will make a good running engine run better, modding an un-tuned engine won't get you anywhere but frustrated and confused.

I'm not quite sure about the rear end gears I'm thinking it has 308's and I'm also running 22's rims with a 265 35 22 tire. Also the transmission is a turbo 350. I did take the carb back to the stock rods and springs but i don't have the stock advance springs for the dizzy. I bought the mr gasket advance curve kit and I have both medium springs in there I'm thinking thats gotta be around stock but not sure. Also I'm not running vacuum advance Should I be?
