Limited slip

I just bought a 87 Monte SS from what I gather it has 3.73 limited Slip, although when I jack it up and spin one wheel the other wheel spins oppsotie way! I have limited experience on LS rear ends, is this normal, or could the clutch pack be gone? Oil? I know the guy that had this car abused it. Any help appreciated. Ty

Probably not an LSD. Could be, but doubtful unless there's damage or a lot of wear on it.

HERE is a link to help you tell what the gear ratio is if there's any doubt.

Or just give it a differential lube change. While the cover's off you will see the condition of the gears, whether or not it's a posi and what the gear ratio really is.

Although it would seem a natural for the MCSS to come with a limited slip (that would be the G80 option code), I've never seen it happen...

I agree↑X2. The closest to a "sure thing" I've seen regarding posi diffs, is the second generation Pontiac T/A. I believe they could be ordered w/o a posi, but came standard w/one as part of the package.
