Can anybody tell me if there are any on line manuals to view for older cars (54 Chevy Sedan Deluxe). Also any good catalogs out there for those hard to find parts.

HEY WY: Welcome on board! I have never seen complete Shop Manuals on line. If you want to buy a Shop Manual for a 54 Chevy there are a lot of vendors at www.hemmings.com If you need a specific part it would be best to list that individual item. There are a lot of vendors that specialize in certain items. Try www.chevysothe40s.com ...GOOD LUCK...DAVE

Online Manuals
Online Information & Manuals for Pre & Post War Chevrolets http://chevy.tocmp.com/
Recently due to some problems with one of my old servers and others about to expire, I have moved all the Online Manuals to a new location. http://chevy.tocmp.com thanks to Rusty of the The Old Car Manual Project http://www.tocmp.com for providing the web space. This move so far took over two months to complete, relinking over 18,000 files including 2700 + pages (approximately 440+ mb). All of this information is now on one server. With this move, some sites have been combined to make it easier to look some info up. E.g. 1946 - 1954 Chevrolet Passenger Car Model Charts. http://chevy.tocmp.com/models/index.htm A new additon are 195 pages from the Rochester Parts & Service Bulletins Catalog prior to 1960. http://chevy.tocmp.com/Rochester/index.htm I am sure there will be a few glitches, so please let me know through the site with the problem and I'll fix them when I can. In the meantime, I am searching for new material to put online. Below is a partial listing of the manuals and info online so far. It is kind of hit or miss on many models since the people who compile the info and put it to print kind of like to get paid. You are very fortunate that someone has untertaken the great labor of putting this info online.

Hi All,
I maintain the Chevy Manuals portion of The Old Car Manual Project. Putting these Old Online Chevy Manuals online is a hit and miss situation without any real order of how I acquire them. Every one of them came from an original manual and not a reprint. Most have been purchased using my own funds, some with a few donations, others have been loaned to me. Some of the manuals I will tackle almost as soon as they arrive. Especially the smaller ones. Others have taken several months to prepare for the web. At this time, I have about 5 manuals to go through and one has over 1200 pages. Also, I plan to slow down the output because of the expense of acquiring these old manuals. If there is a request for a certain manual, I attempt to find an original and place on the internet for all. Only so much one person can do considering time, money and other obligations. Anyhow, I sincerely hope these Old Online Chevy Manuals are of benefit to many of the Car Enthusists out there. Last edited by khardy; 05-08-2005 at 04:57 PM. Reason: To better explain these manuals. |

Just curious if you are walking any gray areas with copyright laws. I suppose since you don't get money there isn't much they could do.

These materials were published before the US became part of the Berne Convention of Copyrights of 1973. Before that, published material was protected for 20 years. Anything since 1973 is now 60 years.
