linear actuators gas struts

Anyone ever mount gas struts/linear actuators/gas springs on an old 66 b body Plymouth trunk lid?

What length, what pressure, where did you mount them on the floor and trunk lid?

I have done it and am not totaly satisfied with the final outcome, because of the amount they lift the lid. They do the job but do not open the lid fully.
