lines in clear

hair lines in the clear coat do i need to have whole car repainted,no lounge lions reply please i need this info.Kat

yes hair lines all over paint is 4 years old

If these lines are small scratches like swirls they can be buffed out with an electric buffer and compound. If however they are scratches deeper into the clear or actual cracks (splitting), you'll need a new clear coat shot. It is really difficult to evaluate over the net- actually seeing them would help- ask your local trustworthy body and paint shop and then you could do the buffing yourself with some practice, if that is the case.

It doesn't really sound fixable, but without seeing the car, I don't know if that's a safe assumption. Maybe you can post a pic, and let on of the body guys help you out. They definitely know their stuff (I've had lots of luck here with body-related concerns).

Older clearcoats had a tendency to craze. This produced real fine hairline cracks everywhere. Best bet is to have it redone. If it was cleared over they would come back eventually.
