Over the past month I've been helping my best friend get his 84 Cutlass ready for paint. I'm not a body man and neither is he. My brother is self taught in paint and body, so he told us what to do and we did the prep work. My brother did the spraying. We didn't have a booth so it was done outside.
We used all PPG material. The car is painted GM bright blue, aka Iroc Blue, aka Electric blue. The paint was BC Global, and the clear coat is Glamour clear. We used a light dusting of .025 Chrome metal flake. The spraying was finished on Sunday, tomorrow we'll be picking up the 2000 grit and sanding the clear. When spring rolls around we'll be spraying it with another run of clear then sanding out and buffing. Thus far were really pleased with how it came out. I wanted to see what yall thought. First I will tell you that I am also not a body man or expert at painting.

I have been working on getting a Chevrolet Van ready for painting and I will tell you that to get anything even close to a nice paint job is a great deal of work!!!

I have now completed about 95% of the body work but to do it right takes many many hours of hard work and I am not yet to the painting stage.

What you did to your friends car is a real learning experience and the whole painting thing is very complicated between using the right paint, hardener, gun, pressures, and primers.

There are just so many different things that go into making the final product look great.

You did a very good job and you should be proud because for a first time job that looks good.
