A little worried about paint color...

Well I have been working on this car for about 3 years and it finally came time to spray it. I had major frustration trying to pick a color I could live with. Wanted something that wasn't going to be really flashy and bright but at the same time I didnt want to go to plain. Plus this is a big car so I knew the wrong color could really look bad. I finally decided on dark cherry pearl and it drove me nuts waiting to see what it would look like. I have only seen it in the booth for a second and I did like what I saw but I know it will look different once it is totally assembled. I built the car for myself so I know that is really all that matters but I would still like to hear a few honest opinion...good or bad! It is a 48 chevy sedan and I am going for resto rod with minimal body mods, just lowered with chrome reverse wheels and wide whites.

To me it's too early to really get an impression. The color will look different once it's outside in natural light. I think it will look good. Either way, once you get it assembled and decide you don't like it, let me know.

I love those deep dark reds. It should add just enough
of a custom touch to the 48 without being over the top.

Choosing a color never gets easier,it dont matter if its your first or fiftieth. I'm with everyone else I love it but I'm a little biased. I also wanted something dark ,black just wasnt flashy enough so I decided on a special mix black cherry....Now I'm back to black...next week it'll be black cherry again ,at least I got it down to two....

I think it looks great too. One thing you have to remember when looking at a car like that in the booth, ALL you see is color. There is no contrast between color and chrome parts, there is nothing to break it up, ALL you are looking at is a giant color sample, it's really hard to judge what you are going to see any more than holding up a wheel without the car and saying "will this wheel look good on my car?"

You need to stand back and look at the big picture, you can't do that yet so don't sweat it. That color is pretty easy to live with on just about any car, it's one of those colors. Don't sweat it, put the car together and enjoy it.

Well thanks guy, I am really not trying to fish for compliments here, just really hoping everything comes together properly. In photos it actually looks like a totally different color so time will tell. Any tips for final assembly? I am having the inner fender pieces painted the same color as the car and only the edges of the fenders painted. Then the whole car will get done after. There is alot of pieces to the front clip on these cars so Im hoping with a couple of buddies and alot of masking tape I can get it together with out damage!

im not a builder but i have helped put a few together after a good paint job. we use rags between the parts so as not the scratch em up. get the bolts started and pull the rags out. its a bit of a pita but way better than scratches.

Good color choice to me.

Dark colors make things look smaller, so you helped with that.

Dark colors are "macho"... so it will look a little meaner.. a good thing for hot rods.

Metallics and pearls always look a little "classier"... not a bad thing.

...and it is not the sort of choice that many people will object to... though there is always at least one person, no matter what you choose! }:-(

The down side to dark colors are that, the body needs to be straight... the paint needs to be well finished... they get hotter in southern climates... and in dusty areas they show the dust worse. Even with all of this, they still may be a good choice.

Well thank you very much guys and thanks for the tips. The color is actually off of a honda ridgeline and I have looked at a few in person, different light really does seem to make the color look totally different. Of course some people will love it and some will hate it! But I am pretty pumped to see it start coming together.
