Lobeck Street Rods
I had the chance to visit Barry Lobecks business in Springfield, Ohio the other day. If you don't know who Barry is, he is in almost all of the Street Rodder magazines and is known for building '32's. Anyways, my cousin is real good friends with Barry and has breakfast with him on a weekly basis when Barry is not at his Cleveland shop. Well Ray (cousin) ask me if I want to go with him to look at a car that Barry is redoing for a customer so naturally I said yea. It was a '55 Chevy Convertible that he is doing in black. All I can say is that this car was absolutely flawless. It was probably one of the most perfect black paint jobs i have ever seen on any vehicle. I was in awe as to how straight, smooth, and deep, the paint was on this car. It would very easily be Barret/Jackson worthy, and could compete with any Boyd Coddington, or Chip Foose car. Then standing there I looked around at all of the other cars in the shop in various stages of rodification. One that is going to be really wild is an old Chrysler Airflow that is going to be the recipient of a 426 Hemi. Then there was an array of '32's in various stages of being built. And an assortment of other older rods and street machines that al looked to have some serious muscle between the front fenders. I will see if I can go back down with him and maybe take the digital for a few pics. Just wanted to share before I head out to the garage.
