Local Car show

Wife and I took the sedan to a small car show in Waterloo, Illnois, nice small town just south of here on the Illinois side of the river. Show was sponsored by the local Lions Club, and held on the courthouse square. Maybe 100 cars, but some really nice ones none the less. I took just a few pics - most really had to be seen in person to appreciate, like the line-up of four 9-second drag cars - not real pretty, but pretty impressive!

A nice '58 Vette and a '55 T-bird. And a beautiful Plymouth pickup with a nicely detailed 440 under the hood!

Looks like some nice rides there.

What are those strange darkened areas under the cars? I think we used to call them shadows!

I notice people walking around without coats on! We've been below average temperatures (cold) for over two months now.

NO KIDDING !!!!! We had an indoor car show this weekend. The weather has been spitting moisture all day again. With the temp hovering at 32, it changes from snow to sleet to rain and back again. 20 below average....

EVERYONE at the show was grumbling about the weather and how tired of this crap they are...

Jealous of your sun and nice car weather ?? OH YEAH....

It was (still is) a beautiful day. We actually got a spot in the shade - on purpose! But this the St. Louis area - it will be raining tonight, and who knows, maybe snowing tomorrow! We had tornados earlier in the week!

I don't know if anyone noticed, but the two-tone gray '55 4-door wagon has a plate on the front that says "NO NOMAD". I guess he got tired of all the 'experts' coming by and calling it a Nomad.

When I hit the lotto I need to get a 58 Vette, my birth year. I had to come back and mention after looking at the photo, that's a 57 not a 58. Neat little show, can't wait for our local ones to start. At the end of this month is my favorite of all time, the "Dream Machines". http://www.miramarevents.com/dreammachines/

Brian, This one was really nice. The fender said fuel injection, but it sure looked like a 4-barrel to me.

Yeah, it is a fact from what I understand that there are more "original" FI 57 Vettes than were made by Chevrolet.

I bought an origional running 60 vette for 750 dollars. Believe it or not it was a factory 3 speed car. We were supposed to be saving for a house and my wife made me sell it. I took 1000 dollars for it. It drove good but smoked a little. I guess it is obvious that was a while back. 1972 I think. That was the only vette I ever owned.

I know. Every one has these stories but us old guys have better ones,

John

John, not only do us older guys have better ones...we have a story for everything...LOL. $750 was a smoking deal for that Vette, even in 72. I paid around $5,000 for my 59 in the 90's and people where all over me like I stole it...which I think I did...a little rough but, original, numbers good, two tops and brown with white coves. A color combination that I wouldn't have picked, but in 59 I'm sure I was busy doing something other than picking colors on a Corvette.

Bob, beautiful cars there...it reminds me of the 60's and early 70's when that was a little more common place to see all those cars on the same street...great memories. I guess that's part of why we do what we do.

I tried to buy a '63 Vette that was at the local bank because it was repo'd in '69 but I was 17 and my Dad wouldn't sign the title. It was a 327 4 speed and he said I would just kill myself and whoever was riding with me.... Can't remember the exact price but it was in the $750 range and the car was nice !! Light blue with white coves...
