Good point.

A bunch of the gang in that picture are a group that calls themselves the "Do Nothins." They used to be at every run you went to as a group.

The club only has two rules.

Rule number one....There will be no rules!

Rule number two....Rule number one can never be broken.

I always envied them.

The trophy deal up here is a club getting together and swinging all their votes to the club members or a bunch of guys getting together and voting for each other "hey whats your car number mines 22 Ill vote for you" a large club can pull all the trophys at some showsLOL,I hate that! especially when a strange car cruises into a show that's nice and they loose a trophy because of not getting the votes they really deserve !!!!! I like the dash plaques and The comradery at shows (HELL with trophys)! I judged a show a couple of years ago and the police chief had a car in it and he didn't open the hood so he lost points and lost out on a trophy, but the city counsel gave him a trophy anyway by taking it from one of the winning cars! They told me he rated extra attention! My GOD HE was the CHIEF!!!!

Politics, greed, favoritism, have taken over the small town and city shows ! City's put on shows to bring in shoppers, and tourists you can't ban dogs or bikes (it may offend the spectators)!!!!

Take for example the 4th of July its Thursday but around here its on the 6th.the parade and fireworks are Saturday LOL Because that's when the weekenders and vacationers are in town!!!!LOL Its now a 6th of July Independence Day celebration not for the local familys and kids its for greed when the money comes to town! I may sound cynical but its the way it is in this day and age! Hell the county fairs aren't at harvest time their in the spring & summer months so county's don't conflict and pull the money from each other!!! Ones going on now a kid has to buy his corn at a market to put it in competition for a blue ribbon and he's sponsored by a local business there's no way he can actually grow it!!! I yearn for the days of my youth when a Holiday was a "Holiday" and car shows were fare and fun! and advertizing wasn't the main focus of everything you see and hear, and fairs were in the fall at harvest time and the winners of the blue ribbons went to the state fairs for a competition for gold ribbons, when Winston cup racing was in and cars didn't advertise feminine napkins and Viagra and drugs and a driver was a driver (not an athlete LOL) Hell poker is on the sport channels now when did poker become a sport LOL !@!

Just a little rant by me OH! And farting is ok to people now and farts are in kids cartoons now so the word fart is ok to kids and to cut a big loud one in mixed company is except-able and funny ( But POPEYE IS OUT BECAUSE HE SMOKES A PIPE) LOL

I'm going to a local car show Saturday LOL I hope they have nice DASH plaques & not these cheep computer printed laminated things done on someones home computer! And Im tired of getting scented candles or "Honor our veterans caps" that are made in VIETNAM in the goody bags

Jester ( This I hope amused some of you guys LOL)

car shows

I don't go to many car shows, about the only one is BTT50's. When a show wants $20-$25 bucks for me to show my car, it will be a cold day in hell when I will pay that, and I don't plan on winning any thing anyhow.

I have to agree. I no longer go to shows I have to pay to enter with exception of BTT50's.

I go to military events and various shut in events.

I make a few passes at the larger events and enjoy the trip to and from them. We have several groups that gather for an evening in the parking lot of popular restraunts or an early morning breakfast and cruise on the back roads.

Mostly I just jump in the car and go somewhere, friends garage, race car shop, club social events and to the ballpark where I play senior baseball.

Thanks for the pictures PJ. I have enjoyed this thread. The local get togethers are what makes these old cars fun. Sorry the weather was not better but I'll bet you still had fun.

There was a great show over in Stillwater last night. It looked like about 250 cars. The entire area was full of cars. Lots of pre 67 cars. There were only couple of rats. The river is very high so I think the regular parking lot was swamped.

There were lot of interesting people too. I had one guy tell me about his buddy that has a Grand Sport Buick turbo...run 8.50 and 168 and still drives it to shows. I think he visited a couple too many bars on the way. haha No Wal-Martians however. haha

I said hi to Swanee. I'm glad to see he is still working the shows. He is a good man.

I had 14 dogs stop by and get free pets. I had very nice conversations with an Airdale and a couple of Lassie Collies. I wish more shows allowed dogs.

I'm going to try and attend agin next Wed...this time I'll try and remember my camera.

I have to tell you, I went over to a local show today and found it very disappointing. They use to have the show at a local Portuguese hall and it was real nice, some trees, in a nice neighborhood, I got to be a judge there once, fun time. Today they held it for the first time at the friggin Mall! In the mall parking lot! I'm sorry, but I didn't have a lot of fire to get up (after a late night at a nephews birthday party) so I didn't get over until 10 or so. I drove in there and just drove right out, pay $25 to park at the mall, I just couldn't see that. It's a crappy place, hotter than heck, and it's the mall parking lot, just didn't feel right to me. Next month is a great in a little historic town near by, that will be fun as it was last year.

Funny I did the same thing today. The big cruise was in a K Mart parking lot, so I didn't want to even pay $10 to enter. I simply parked my Falcon just outside the cruise and walked around to see the cars, and visit friends. After a couple hours I jumped back in and drove home.
I don't mind looking around, but don't like the asphalt parking lot cruises.

Boy do I agree with you guys. It is hard to remind yourself you are having fun when you are melting down into your shoes. Shade is a must this time of year.
