Slow day at the swap meet. I gave as much away as sold so I didn't have to drag it home again... It was COLD until 8 am when the sun finally got high enough to warm things up.

I had my '69 K1500 there and got a LOT of kickers but no money. One guy said he had a car he needed to sell and then would buy it. We shall see.

I had a Ski Doo MXZ on craigslist and I sold that this afternoon so it was a good day after all.

I didn't put the battery in the Harley this year. Very disappointing...
It's a 2000 model with less than 9,000 miles. My wife suggested I sell it if we aren't going to use it. I told her she can do whatever she likes with it when I'm gone. I got my first motorcycle when I was 15 and went 1 year without a scooter since then. It sucked and it hasn't/won't happen again. I may not ride much but it's there when I want it...

I know what you mean. When I was a teenager I was forbidden to own a motorcycle or a convertible. At 17 I joined the Navy and bought a 59 Merc Park Lane Conv. Got out of the Navy and bought my first Norton to go with it. Pretty much owned both ever since. At 68 I guess I should quit rebelling against Dad huh?

I am fortunate that Barb likes the bike as much as I do.

I was forbidden to own a car. I could have 3-5 passengers and cause wreck resulting in lawsuits for my Dad, so HE bought me the motorcycle. I got drafted in '70 and was sure to be shipped to 'Nam but failed the hearing test of the physical and was classified 4F. I used to feel like I missed out on something but then I didn't come back all screwed up on drugs like my buddies either, so I guess it was for the best.

My wife, Barb, likes riding the bike but we didn't have very good summer weather this year and I was busy with other things. Theres "always next year"...

You guys should come to Long Island in the Summer. There are cruise night almost every night. From a 100 cars as high as 500 cars.

Mon: I hear there is a cruise night in West Babylon on Rt109.

Tues: is Yaphank fire dept. and Town of Oyster Bay (Big Turn out both places)

Wed: Comack Rd. near Nicolls Rd. in Deer Park. and Middle country RD in Centereach. Home Depot parking lot.

Thurs: OakDale shopping plaza on Montauk Hwy.(big turn out 300 cars)
One old guy drove a Stanly Steamer to Oakdale.
Kings park shopping center in Kings Park.
Riverhead Parking lot. in Riverhead

Fri: The Grand daddy of cruise night Bellmore RR station. As high as 500 cars.
Massapequa RR station. Nice Turn out.

Sat: Bob Store parking lot, next to McDonald's on Sunrise Hwy. in Deer Park.
Stop and Shop Parking Lot in Smithtown.

Well we had the last cruise of the year with the Wed group today. I was really sad as the Willys was down with a bad fuel pump. This was the first time in 4 years that I have had to miss a cruise with it.

Ii drove the diesel dually instead. We had over 20 cars and went from the Point at 61 and 10 just north of Hastings and thru Afton and up the Wis side of the river. It's a great cruise with some hills and sharp turns. Nice country. It even snowed a bit.

The big truck did ok but I was really busy going thru the gears. Dang no wonder I get such lousy mpg when cruising with the guys. They drive like mad men!!. I didn't have any trouble keeping up except for shifting. The NV 4500 5 spd just does not speed shift well and third gear requires double clutching both up and down. I actually burned a good bit of rubber going around a corner. The duallies really make noise haha I did get them back a bit with some coal smoke going up some hills. haha

We stopped on the way back at the Afton inn for lunch and discussions.

Nice day.

Dang, wish I would've known about that. Maybe the "group" would've let me tail along behind in the '38. It has a good heater...

I've got VA underdash heat, air and def.

I don't know which I use more. heat or air. this year I think I used the heat everyday, haha

Both work very well. They will toast you or freeze you

I'm still up in the air with the fuel pump. 2 guys just put Walbro inline pumps on their rods. I don't think the Walbro has the capacity for the blower however. Both guys had trouble with the Mallory gerotor pumps. They said the motor brushes failed. I guess the Mallory rep said they had a bad run of Chinese brushes. Figures.
